Span & Interval Appearance
The Span & Interval Appearance panel in the timeline properties pane is used to adjust the properties of the timeline (the actual line) itself, as well as the pagination and margins.
Span Color
The "Span Color" control affects the color of the timeline's span (the time 'line' itself). Clicking this control allows you to choose a color from the color palette.
Thickness & Spacing
The "Thickness" and "Spacing" controls allow you to adjust the line thickness of the span as well as the spacing between intervals.
Intervals
The "Show Major Intervals" control allows you to toggle the visibility of the timeline's major intervals.
You can also choose the frequency of the major intervals (for example, every tenth interval is a major interval) using the control below the "Show Major Intervals" control.
The "Show Minor Intervals" control allows you to toggle the visibility of the timeline's minor intervals.
The "Show End Caps" control allows you to toggle the visibility of the timeline's end caps (embellishments on the first and last intervals of the timeline).
Margin & Pagination
The "Margin" control affects the margins surrounding the timeline. This control can be used to add extra space if you have events whose titles fall outside the time span.
The "Pagination" control affects the layout of the timeline only during printing, if the timeline is too large for a single sheet of the chose paper size. The "Automatic" pagination settings causes the timeline to be tiled across multiple pages according to the best fit. The "Fit Vertically" setting forces the timeline to be reduced in size so that its height never exceeds the chosen paper size, though the timeline may still spread horizontally across multiple pages. The "Fit Horizontally" setting forces the timeline to be reduced in size so that its width never exceeds the chosen paper size, though the timeline may still spread vertically across multiple pages.
Notes
The Pagination control does not affect the timeline when exporting, only when printing.
